Join our popular Fall Festival on October 19th presented by Coral Care, Country Bank, Dance It Up, and Grafton Children's Daycare and Preschool! Event is also sponsored by Jackie Crawford-Ross, Realtor and Kid Hero Books! Join us at Nelson Park in North Grafton for Scarecrow Building and Pumpkin Painting from 11AM to 2PM. There will be music, inflatables, food trucks, and local business joining in on the fun! FREE!!

Fall Festival: Apple Pie Contest 
When: Sunday, October 19, 2025 
Where: Nelson Park, 6 Prentice St. Grafton MA 01519 
Contest Rules: 
  • Open to all amateur bakers. 
  • Pie must be submitted in a 9" disposable pie pan. All pans and dishes will not be returned. 
  • Only one entry per person or team is allowed. 
  • Pies must be entered with both a top and bottom crust. 
  • Pies must be made from scratch. No store-bought pies or pie crusts are allowed. 
  • Must provide your recipe for the pie and pie crust prior to the day of the event. It must include all ingredients, quantities, and preparation instructions. Your name, address, and phone number should be on the back of the recipe sheet. All recipe sheets become the property of the Grafton Recreation Department and will not be returned. Submitted to Recreation Department by October 15th. 
  • Each pie must be delivered in a covered container until judging. 
  • Contestants agree to have their photos and recipes published without compensation. 
  • No refrigeration will be available. 
  • All entries must be submitted at the Fall Festival Event on Sunday, October 19, 2025, between 11:30 A.M. and 12:30 P.M. at the Nelson Park Snack Shack. 
  • Tasting and judging will begin at 1 P.M. The top prize will be presented once judging is complete. 
  • Do not cut the pie.  
Judging Criteria (100-point scale): 
  • Flavor: 40 points 
  • Filling (consistency, doneness, moistness, and flavor): 25 points 
  • Crust (color, flavor, texture, and doneness): 20 points 
  • Overall appearance: 15 points 

A reminder that bakers must practice good handwashing procedures and should use gloves, tongs or other service utensils to ensure there is no bare hand contact with the ready to eat pies.
