Enjoy these Home Alone/ Babysitter programs through Heather Welch!Home Alone- Safe@Home is ideal for students that have expressed interest in assuming the responsibility of staying home alone. Students learn how to practice safe habits, how to prevent unsafe situations, and what to do when faced with dangers such as power failures or weather emergencies. Students are also introduced to the Safe Sitter® First Aid Chart and learn a system to help them assess and respond to injuries and illnesses.Babysitting- This class provides youth who are planning to baby sit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants. This training will help participants to develop leadership skills; learn how to develop a babysitting business, keep themselves and others safe and help children behave; and learn about basic child care and basic first aid. The recommended age for this course is 11-15 years old or anyone who works with children on a daily basis. The Pediatric First Aid & CPR course incorporates the latest science and teaches students to recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies such as burns, cuts, scrapes, sudden illnesses, head, neck, back injuries, heat and cold emergencies and how to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies to help pediatric victims (infants and children up to 12 years of age). Students who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate for Pediatric First Aid/CPR valid for two years. **PLEASE NOTE- PART 1 WILL CERTIFY YOUR CHILD IN BABYSITTING AND IS REQUIRED. PART 2 WILL CERTIFY THEM IN CPR/AED, AND IS NOT REQUIRED. YOU MUST PARTICIPATE IN PART 1 TO ENROLL IN PART 2. Babysitter Meet & Greet- Come and be a kid again! We are planning some FUN, LAUGHTER, and good ol' fashioned GAMES on Friday nights! No stress - "just for fun" games such as badminton, kickball, yard games, recess games & more. Leave your stress at the door and come play for the night! Baby sitting is provided for children in grades K through 5.

Exploratory Group- Join us for a fun-filled 8-week social group. This adaptive program is for young adolescents with a disability(s). Each week we will welcome a new and exciting activity with the goals of enhancing social skills, practicing team-building skills, and having fun. The themes include: baking group, team-based problem solving, creators collaborative, canvas & conversation, card games, and jeopardy not in that order. Visual schedules for each week will be provided under "links". This is not a parent/guardian drop-off program.Calling All Cooks- Join us for a fun 6-week cooking program to create and snack together. This program is for adolescents with a disability(s) to review basic cooking skills and make a weekly snack as a group. *Week one does not include cooking* We will be using a microwave or toaster oven. No conventional oven or raw meat will be used. A parent/guardian must remain in the building during this program. This program will include eating various foods and textures. If the participant has Dysphagia (or increased risk due to medicine) or any other difficulty swallowing, dietary modifications (texture, size, etc.), high risk of aspiration, food allergies, or any other food/drink related concerns please contact the recreation department.Yoga for Neurodiverse Community- A 6-Week Series of Movement, Breath, & Connection. This six-week yoga series is designed for children with disabilities ages 8-12, with a focus on honoring sensory needs, building awareness, and celebrating each unique way of being. Class Structure (50 minutes each week): Each class follows a consistent, supportive rhythm that blends movement, mindfulness, and emotional regulation in a way that's accessible to both child and caregiver. This is not a parent/guardian drop-off program, parent/guardians are encouraged to participate.  Adapted Exercise- Adaptive group exercise is a 45 minute group fitness class designed for participants with autism and other special needs. The class will introduce participants to different beginner level exercises and activities with additional supports from the trainer. Each class is split into phases, we start with a group warm-up followed by a round of group strengthening and aerobic exercises. Throughout the class each athlete will have an opportunity to try 2-4 1:1 exercises where they will work on higher level exercises with one on one support from the trainer. We wrap up each class with a group stretch to wind down. Pop-Up Programs- Current pop-up programs are spooky crafting and spooky cookie house decorating. These are inclusive programs encouraging all abilities to join.Spooky Crafting- Get ready to get crafty! Join us for a pop-up program where you'll create a spooky masterpiece to take home. All abilities are welcome and encouraged to attend this inclusive activity. We'll have everything you need to build and decorate a spooky house, from twinkling lights and paint to wooden décor and pom poms. This is a great chance to let your imagination run wild and get into the spooky season spirit. While you're crafting, you'll get to enjoy a delicious cup of hot cocoa. Enjoy group exercise programs offered by the Rec Department! Descriptions below.MetaFit- Short, intense and rewarding. Metafit is the true HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) workout and is designed to boost your fitness level, rocket your energy levels & get massive results in the shortest amount of time possible. Metafit is all bodyweight moves and is only 30 minutes long! The "afterburn" from a Metafit workout lasts a minimum 24 hours and up to 48 hours after the workout! That means you are burning fat even in your sleep!!Yoga- This Yoga class offers a moderately paced sequence through the traditional Yoga poses with guidance to unite your breath & body. Class is accessible to all levels of practitioners. (Yoga experience helpful, but not necessary.) Classes will include building strength in the core, balance in the body, as well as increasing flexibility and range of motion. All classes include elements of strength, endurance, stillness and reflection. Come away from your Yoga practice with decreased stress and anxiety, bringing you back to a calm and grounded center.Pilates- Let’s build a strong “Powerhouse” together. Our Pilates workout will focus on toning and strengthening the core muscle groups, increase flexibility and control, improve posture and balance, and ease of movement through daily life. It is a great stress reliever. You will need to bring a Pilate’s mat and water to class. Let’s strengthen our mind and body core together.Zumba- This is a fun way to condition and exercise your body. It is dance based aerobic class with Latino moves and music, spiced with other great styles – twist, hip hop, country dance, tango, 70’s, and belly dance. You will work up a sweat not even knowing that you are exercising. No experience required, anyone can join and have fun with us. You will need to bring water to class.
